Light, made
into product.

An independent design and software studio in Burnaby, BC. We design and build digital products and the brands around them, for ourselves and for clients.

Our own products.

We created all three, including the names and the brands. Each case shows the work behind it.

More design.

Identity, illustration, interfaces and print, for our own ideas and for clients.

What we do for clients.

We design your product and write its code, so the version you approve is the version that ships.

The brief

A small business keeps its work all over the place: notes in one app, clients in another, invoices in a spreadsheet, dates in a calendar. A good part of the week goes into moving things from one to the other.

Manyloom puts it all in one place. We came up with the name, made the brand, designed the app and wrote the code, including Loomy, the assistant that sorts incoming work into tasks and asks the owner before it does anything important.

Brand

A woven mark.

The mark is a small square of plain weave, three teal threads one way and three coral threads the other. The name is set in lowercase Bricolage Grotesque, and the app uses Hanken Grotesk. There are two themes, a dark one called Aurora and a light one called Cloud Dancer.

How the mark is built
How the mark is built. Three teal threads cross three coral ones on a 3×3 grid. Below it, the sizes the mark was tested at and the one-colour versions.
App icon

Colour
Colour. The dark and light themes side by side, each with its own teal, coral and neutrals.
Type
Type. Bricolage Grotesque for the logo and headlines, Hanken Grotesk for the interface and the numbers.

System

Components and motion.

One set of components works in both themes. Numbers use tabular figures, so amounts line up in a column. When the logo appears, it weaves itself thread by thread.

UI kit
UI kit. Buttons, badges, tabs, cards, alerts and empty states, built once and used in both themes.
The mark in motion
The mark in motion. Four frames of the logo animation. The vertical threads drop in, the horizontal ones cross them and the weave settles.

Product

The app.

The home screen, Now, shows three things to do today and what Loomy handled overnight. Drop it in turns a messy list into tasks, dates and a budget. Loomy does the routine work on its own and asks before anything that matters. Money is tracked by project and by client.

Print

On paper.
